TOY - Trainers Online for Youth
http://trainers.salto-youth.net/CarmineRodi/
I have a master degree in Economics. I loved it, and I also loved doing so many other things. I worked as a journalist, social worker, educator, project coordinator, hostel manager, and factotum.
When I discovered non-formal learning, it was love at first sight. Finally, learning could be fun! It was time to start changing things. And now it's what I do.
My favourite topics are Storytelling & Myth, History, Games (and Gamification), Media & Communication. Better if combined.
Carmine Rodi Falanga has 3 references for past work as a trainer.
Freelance Trainer, Consultant, Facilitator.
my main occupation over the last 13 years has been to design, run and assist projects related to youth work and training, both at a local and international level.
Over the past years I have regularly been involved in organising and running training events, international seminars, courses, meetings - as facilitator or trainer.
My biggest areas of interest are (at the moment):
- personal development,
- storytelling,
- nature-based methods and rites of passage,
- intercultural learning,
- media & communication,
- democracy and human rights,
- conflict management.
I have been working with a wide range of organisations, from very small, grassroots level NGOs or informal groups, up to well established international organisations, or public bodies such as National Agencies for Youth or local government agencies.
Feel free to browse my CV for more detailed information (I try to update it regularly - I promise).
I had the pleasure to write a research on Non Formal Education for the University of Viterbo, published in 2008.
Since 2006 I am a member of the Italian EVS training pool.
Since 2009 I am member of LPCS, Learning Partnership for Creative Sustainability, an inetrnational network of inspired and brilliant professionals who try to inspire change and build a better world. And we rock!
Formal background:
I hold a 5 years master degree in Economics and Business Management.
It was good because it has given me a little bit of a "technical" approach to work and organisation, and even more because it helped me to understand the importance of people, of how to work in a team, and of communication.
And thanks to it, I understood I never ever wanted to have a job connected to finance or marketing.
Non-formal:
I have worked for 6 years as a journalist in Italy, during my university years. Soon after my degree I started working on designing and running activities related to education and training.
Aside from many other (interesting and useful) experiences across Italy, Europe and beyond, my most significant training experience has been the participation to SALTO-Youth "Training for Trainers", edition 2004/05.
I have also attended SALTO's "Coach 2 coach" in Italy, in october 2005. It was a training course on how to support Local Initiatives (action 3) and their participants, developing with them an approach based on "coaching" techniques.
