TOY - Trainers Online for Youth

I'm an enthusiastic youth worker devoted to arts, theatre, storytelling and non formal education :)
People need opportunities to get involved, challenged and inspired to their maximum potential, and this is what I like to do, as much as I can: challenge myself and the others to express freely and to expect the unexpected!
Mafalda Morganti has 10 references for past work as a trainer and added 1 tools to the SALTO Toolbox.
Freelance Trainer, Facilitator, Project manager
Since 2012 I'm happily involved in the activities of "Cooperativa Sociale Muovimente", a small organisation based in Viterbo, Italy, which I love and where I work as project manager, youth worker and EVS mentor. My main occupation at the moment is to design and run projects related to youth work and training, both at a local and international level, in behalf of Muovimente and other organisations.
The majority of my work as a trainer is currently focusing around the areas of communication and personal development, using mainly tools related to theatre, creativity and storytelling.
My love for the power of stories goes beyond words, as I'm deeply convinced that stories are the foundation for how we communicate. They enable us to make a personal connection to content on a deeper and richer level, more than a mere list of facts can, and how we narrate and read facts determines how we will remember and integrate them... and to me that's what learning is! When we approach “learning” in a more traditionally structured way, it can be a struggle for people, but stories enable us to learn without feeling like we are learning, without straining to get it right. I love to work with transformational storytelling, using personal storytelling as tool for innovation to change and self-development.
I enjoy working also with the concepts of imperfection and impermanence, which I believe being quite crucial in the Western culture, which seems obsessed with making things as perfect as possible (technology, bodies, life... ) creating a set of standards that none of us can possibly live up to. I like the idea to examine those imperfections, both in the emotional realm and creative life, to work and play with them and approached them from the perspective that those imperfections are not just beautiful but actually the thing necessary to make our work unique.
Everything started off with a BA degree in Theatre Studies. My love and my vision of theatre (and thereby my studies) played and still plays a fundamental and crucial role in helping me to shape my personal approach as a trainer and educator. In education, as in theatre, I strongly believe in focusing the research and the work on analyzing themes, experimental collective work, being surprised, learning and developing skills and sharing the result of the work with the "audience".
Together with theatre, non-formal activities have been a huge part of my educational background starting from the year 2008. Over these last years I've had the pleasure to take part in a big number of interesting and inspiring experiences across Italy and Europe, which made me understand that, either formal or non-formal, education should help people to develop, to understand their potential, to make choices, to live their lives responsibly, to understand the world around them and that quality training and education are important keys to provide people (not only young) opportunities for life.
I concluded in June 2015 the "Training of Trainers for ERASMUS+ Youth in Action projects" course promoted by Salto Training and Cooperation Center, which to me represented the last little push I needed to finally embrace and accept myself as a trainer, start off my free-lance work and "go out" in the world :)
