Work experience

I have been working in the social field for fifteen years. I have worked with migrants and refugees in Greece (as a labor rights counselor), with Roma children and with teenagers, as a youth worker. I have been an EVS volunteer, an EVS mentor, a coordinator and a trainer. I was a member of SALTO's ToT in 2008 and have been doing NFE trainings as a trainer ever since. I started doing trainings mainly about fair trade issues and consumption choices, but now I am collaborating with different organisations and work on a variety of subjects. I am part of the Greek and Cypriot's National Agency pool of trainers since 2013 and 2015 respectively, running EVS on arrival and midterm evaluation trainings. I am part of a work collective that owns a fair and solidarity trade shop in Athens since 2011 (www.lacandona.gr).

Educational pathway

I studied "Communication and Culture" in Panteion University in Athens and "Psychology" in Deree, the American College in Greece. I was an EVS volunteer in 2002 and a participant in many seminars and training courses over the last years, which have given me some very strong learning experiences. One of them, was my first contact with the idea of "Self Directed Learning" (during the Salto ToT in 2008). For the first time, I was exclusively responsible for my own learning and I had no idea how to deal with that! I have been very interested in the ways we employ to overcome limitations that we acquire, due to our exposure to formal education and I wanted to work further on that. I just received my masters degree in "Adult Education" in Hellenic Open University, with a dessertation on Self Directed Learning.
