2010 SALTO statistics - Evergrowing thanx to you!

The SALTO-YOUTH network of Resource Centres organised approximately 81activities in 2010 (courses, seminars, study visits, staff trainings), mostly in cooperation with NAs and other partners (49 in 2009 42 in 2008, 40 in 2007, 48 in 2006, 45 in 2005, 40 in 2004). SALTO online application & selection procedure was used with most of those activities (easier access, greater transparency, more efficient course management). SALTO-YOUTH coordinated and co-organised further 33 so called "network activities" (27 in 2009 = BTM, SOHO, TicTac, European Citizenship TCs, ToT, TOM, Appetiser,... - more explanation here), where on-line applications were used as always.

Web-site general

In 2010 the SALTO website (www.salto-youth.net) saw an increase of visits (a visit is defined as one user arriving on one of our pages, till s/he leaves the SALTO pages again. Within one visit a user can view several pages. A user can make several visits to our site).

• In 2010 there were 1'299'627 visits (registred by Urchin software) - this is an average of 3'560 visits per day.(compared to 1'226'235 visits in 2009).
• In total you viewed 8'829'556 pages during those visits in 2009 - that's an average of 7 pages per visit.

Downloads

You downloaded in total over 9'465 different files in 2010 (4'590 in 2009) from the SALTO website, and this 592'846 times (471'243 in 2009). This represents an amazing total of 598 gigabytes of data (489 Gb in 2009).

European Training Calendar

You, the National Agencies and SALTO listed 193 activities in the European Training Calendar (183 in 2009, 172 in 2008, 157 in 2007, 192 in 2006, 169 in 2005, 167 in 2004).

• There were 500'980 searches carried out in the Training calendar in 2009 = viewing the www.salto-youth.net/find-a-training/ page, indicating a search (642'000 in 2009, 482'847 in 2008)
• Technical changes on the SALTO website in 2010 explain the drop in numbers - however figures before 2010 and from 2010 onward are comparable.

Toolbox for Training

• The Toolbox grew to a total of over 1055 useful trainer tools by the end of 2010. There is a wide diversity of training methods, exercises, energisers, simulation games, publications, powerpoints, etc available. (1000 in 2009)
• You searched the toolbox 132'312 times = visit to the www.salto-youth.net/find-a-tool/ page indicating a search (189'500 in 2009).

Trainers Online for Youth

By the end of 2010 there were 350 experienced youth work trainers listed in the TOY database (270 in 2009). Also in 2010 the TOY trainers were 'refreshed' meaning that in-active trainers were put offline (till they update their profile again). This gives you only up-to-date trainer profiles for your international youth training activities.

• You searched the TOY database 78'948 times in 2010 = visit to the www.salto-youth.net/find-a-trainer/ page indicating a search (208'600 in 2009).

SALTO Newsletter

The information via the 8 different SALTO Newsletters reaches between 4'000 and 8'000 readers per newsletter in 2010 and new issues of the "Meet'In EuroMed", "SeeYOUth" and "YOUTHin7" magazines were published and distributed on a regular basis.

• Maybe you got one or more of the 37 newsletters in 2010 on one of the topics you can subscribe to: Inclusion, EuroMed, Cultural Diversity, Europe & Causasus, Youth Participation, South-East Europe, Tools - or just the general SALTO news.
• It is also possible to register for notifications when new Tools go online in the Toolbox or new Training activities in the Training Calendar: 4032 users receive new tool notifications and 5724 receiven new training notifications.

Who are you?

It is interesting to know where you came from and how you heard about SALTO: according to the statistics appr. 70% of you find your way directly to the SALTO website (895'884 in 2010, 860'000 in 2009), but we would also like to thank the following websites for their referrals:

• www.google.com (good for 132'126 visits in 2010 = 10% of our visits, 137'400 in 2009 = 12%)
• www.ua.gov.tr (20'149 in 2010 = 1.5%, 22'800 in 2009= 1.88%, )
• www.facebook.com (13'762 referrals in 2010 = 1%, due to increased SALTO activity on social network sites?, 5'300 in 2009)
• www.ec.europa.eu (8'842 referrals in 2010, 10'800 in 2009 = 0.9%)

... and a bit of interesting details (only out of information provided by users):

We have now (end 2010) 51'200 MySALTO users = with password for the SALTO site (38'000 in 2009, 30'000 in 2008). 39% are registered as Male, 61% Female. Over 9000 of them come from Turkey, but only 23 from Liechtenstein. The three oldest MySALTO users were born in 1932 and live in United States, France and Netherlands.
