In 2008 SALTO continues its work: some SALTO statistics

Find a statistical overview of SALTO's activities and achievements in 2008: you participated in many courses, downloaded lots of training resources and visited the SALTO web-page again over ONE MILLION times.

The SALTO-YOUTH network of Resource Centres organised at least 42 activities in 2008 (courses, seminars, study visits, staff trainings) (at least 40 in 2007, 48 in 2006, 45 in 2005, 40 in 2004). SALTO online application & selection procedure was used with over 75% of those activities (easier access, greater transparency, more efficient course management). SALTO-YOUTH coordinated and co-organised further 26 so called "network activities" (BTM, SOHO, TicTac, European Citizenship TCs, ToT and a novelty Appetiser...), where on-line applications were regularly used.

Web-site general

In 2008 once again our www.salto-youth.net was visited over 1'000'000 times (One Million!). THE million visit was on 23rd December 2008 (in 2007 the web-site was a bit more popular and reached million sessions on 20th November 2007).

Till end of the 2008 we reached 1'014'411 visits in total (a bit less then a year ago: 1'089'000 visits, but much more then previous years: 721'487 times in 2006, 442'144 times in 2005, 274'051 visitor sessions in 2004).

! Anyway, please remember that if we count only serious sessions, lasting longer than 10 seconds, then we had "only" 359'600 visits (and "only" 291'701 visits longer than one minute). If we count only visits to more than 1 SALTO page (so a bit more developed surfing, then just one-page visit) we had 304'103 visits.

In 2008 on average you had visited our web-site over 3'000 times a day (the same in 2007, but much more then previously: 2000 sessions in 2006, 1211 in 2005, 750 in 2004).

Our web-site was mostly popular in the spring period (between 1st March and 31st May 2008 over 350'000 sessions were noted, which makes 35% of all visits). Interesting to note that in 2007 our web-site was mostly popular in the summer period (between 1st June and 31st August over 380'000 sessions, 35% of all)

In 2008 you viewed app. 7'328'000 pages which makes over 50% growth comparing to 2007! (4'912'721 pages in 2007, 3'471'007 pages in 2006, 2'384'492 pages in 2005). It was 20'021 SALTO pages viewed per day on average (13'459 in 2007, 9'509 in 2006, 6'533 in 2005), and on average 7,2 pages per visit (session) (4,8 in 2007).

Download

You downloaded in total over 4500 different files (3800 in 2007) from the SALTO website, and this 425'000 times (310.000 times in 2007, 219'331 in 2006, 115'884 in 2005, 75.935 in 2004). This makes 225 gigabytes of data.

European Training Calendar

You, the National Agencies and SALTO listed 172 activities in the European Training Calendar (157 in 2007, 192 in 2006, 169 in 2005, 167 in 2004). Out of it, almost 20% of those activities were organised by SALTO in cooperation with National Agencies and 40 % by National Agencies only. Remaining 40% of those events were organised by other institutions and NGOs. Training calendar was visited 482'847 times in 2008 (301'000 in 2007, 207'049 in 2006, 155'615 in 2005 = viewing www.salto-youth.net/find-a-training/) - this is an increase of 75%.
