Amber Initiatives

Amber Initiatives was formed in 2005 to provide a practical advice and advocacy service for newly arrived migrant workers from Eastern Europe.
Mission of the Amber Initiatives is to contribute to society through the assisting of migrant worker community groups and the host community.
Amber is now well established as a valuable support / activities organisation for the migrant worker community. We are part of the professional sector that works with and supports multiculturalism, immigration and integration, with strong links to statutory bodies and other support structures.
We have a strong volunteer base and a lot of regular activities .
Our work has expanded greatly since we started. We run a wide range of intercultural and support services and activities, and work across Devon and Cornwall. Our main area of work is an information, advice and guidance service for migrant workers from Eastern Europe. In addition to advice and guidance, we have extended our support to include an integration programme (intercultural activities), information events, Family Support Programme, Community Safety Programme and sport and leisure activities for young people.
In order to give the opportunity to young people from migrants background to empower themselves, as a group and as an individual, this specific target group needs specific support and methods.
Amber Initiatives is an international organisation, in the sense that most of our staff, and nearly all our local volunteers and users, are recent migrants into the UK.
Amber Initiatives has 4500 service users. We work with experts in the fields of education, crime prevention and youth initiatives.
As an organisation working in the field of youth activity and personal development we are deeply committed to social inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities. For this reason we chose to be part of the international network Rückenwind, whose main objective is the support and mentoring of young people.
