Study Visits - Youth Work Reality of Eastern Europe and Caucasus countries

Already since 2004 SALTO EECA Resource Centre organises Study Visits aiming on discovering youth work realities in visited regions. Participants - youth workers and National Agencies' officers - have opportunity to learn about specific situation of youth sector in both, Programme as well as Eastern Europe & Caucasus countries.

Objectives

  • To support understanding of youth work realities in visited countries;
  • To learn about youth polices in visited countries;
  • To get to know with wide range of Eastern Europe and Caucasus organisations working with young people on local, regional and national levels;
  • To foster partnership building between organisations from Programme and Eastern Europe & Caucasus countries, especially within Youth in Action Programme;
  • To create atmosphere of common understanding between people representing different cultures, working styles, etc.
  • To promote Eastern Europe and Caucasus region among partners from Programme countries;
  • To present cultural diversity of the visited countries;
  • To introduce working methods of organisations from different backgrounds; 

Programme elements

Each visit is preceded with a preparation, including (beside logistical issues) presentations of Youth in Action Programme for the local organisations and youth policy makers. This allows local partners to be prepared for meetings with Study Visit's participants, who already know the Programme and often look for concrete project partners.

  • Meetings with youth policy makers on local (municipal) and regional levels;
  • Fairs of organisations, where youth workers have opportunity to present shortly their organisations and then to discuss potential partnerships;
  • Visits to offices and work places of local organisations, preferably to experience the work of
  • Cultural activities involving Study Visit participants as well as local youth workers and policy makers - intercultural evening, meals in traditional restaurants, guided tours, etc.
