Study Visit "Youth work reality in Southern Ukraine"

Ukraine was the first country visited by SALTO EECA in 2004. Since that time the number of international youth activities increased significantly. It's one of the most active country within the Youth in Action Programme in the region of Eastern Europe and Caucasus. Beside that, there are regions which are still not active in the field of international youth cooperation. Therefore SALTO EECA decided to organise the Study Visit which will explore the youth work reality in these regions... We invite you to visit Southern Ukraine! Let's discover this region together!

Date and Venue

The Study Visit "Youth Work Reality in Southern Ukraine" took place from 10th till 15th April 2010

Participants visited youth policy makers and youth organisations in Southern Ukraine (Odessa, Kherson, Mykolayiv).

Aim

to discover youth work realities in Southern Ukraine.

Objectives

to learn about youth regional policies in Southern Ukraine;
to share experiences and practices;
to foster mutual knowledge and understanding
to promote sustainable contacts between the youth NGOs aiming at future development of projects within the Youth in Action Programme

Participants

Study Visit brought together 25 participants, both - experienced youth workers from Programme Countries as well as NA's officers.

Participants profile:

active youth worker;
ready amd motivated to develop new international youth projects with Ukraine within Youth in Action Programme;
active participation and contribution during the full duration of the study visit;
ability to communicate in English.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

The selection was carried out by SALTO EECA RC and relevant National Agencies of the Youth in Action Programme, based on the criteria specified in the "participants profile" section. NA's officers were invited in agreement with relevant National Agencies. The selected participants would be informed directly by March 18th 2010.

Programme elements

Presentation of participants and organisations,
Presentation of the Youth in Action Programme with special focus on cooperation with the Neighbouring Partner Countries of the European Union,
Presentation of the youth work reality in Southern Ukraine,
Visits to different youth organisation and institutions.

Financial Conditions

The lodging, board and local transportation were provided by SALTO EECA.
International travel costs as well as visa costs were covered by relevant National Agencies of the Youth in Action Programme.
