Study Visit "Youth work reality in Georgia"

Date and Venue

The Study Visit to Georgia took place from 4th till 10th November 2012 (Sunday 4th being the arrival day and Saturday 10th departure day).

The main aims are:

• to discover youth work reality in Georgia
• to learn about new opportunities for international youth cooperation

Objectives:

• to learn about youth work reality in Georgia as well as to gain a general overview about youth field developments in the EECA countries;
• to encourage partnership-building and the development of project ideas;
• to share experience and good practices;
• to foster mutual knowledge and understanding;
• to promote sustainable contacts between the youth NGOs aiming at future development of projects within the Youth in Action programme

Participants:

Study Visit brought 25 participants, experienced youth workers from Program Countries (i.e. EU and EFTA member states and EU Candidate Countries: Turkey and Croatia) as well as NAs' officers (representatives of the National Agencies of the Youth in Action programme).

Participants' profile:

• representatives of the youth organisations or organisations working with young people;
• having basic knowledge about the Youth in Action programme
• having experience from minimum 1 international youth project wwithin the Youth in Action programme (other non-formal education experience will be an asset);
• prepared to attend actively and contribute during the full duration of the Study Visit ;
• able to communicate in English
• prepared to participate in follow-up or evaluation activities organised by the National Agency or SALTO-YOUTH network;

Working language: English

Programme elements:

• presentation of the Youth in Action programme with a special focus on cooperation with the EECA countries;
• presentation of the youth work reality in Georgia;
• visits to different youth organisations and institutions in Georgia;
• presentation of opportunities for the future international youth cooperation;

Application Procedure & Deadline

Applicants were invited to fil-in the on-line form till 1st October 2012. The selection was carried out by the relevant National Agencies and SALTO EECA, the selected participants were informed directly by 15th October 2012.

Financial Conditions:

• the lodging, board and local transportation was provided by the organisers.
• international travel costs was covered by relevant National Agencies of the Youth in Action Program.
