What to evaluate?

One of the things to decide about when planning the evaluation is what you want to evaluate.

Different elements have an impact on the success of a training programme; the atmosphere and dynamics in the group, the way the topic is addressed, the different methods that are introduced, the accommodation where the training is organised and other things you might think about. Depending on the goals of your training course, you will need to decide which point to emphasise.

In general the main aspects to evaluate are:

The Achievement of the objectives set The learning process The results The use of resources Co-operation between partners and stake-sholders
When you have set your objectives in a SMART way that should allow you to assess to what extent you reached those objectives How did it happen?  In what way did you plan the learning process and how did it take place? What did participants learn and how did it affect their work, what was implemented as a result of the training course? What were unexpected results? What would you change in a future course? How did you take advantage of the environment? In what way did the accommodation contribute to the outcomes of the training course? How did your teamworkcontribute to the training course? What were the benefits and what were the problems in the co-operation? How do you value the impact of the co-operation with the different partners?
