I have been a teacher and trainer for 20+ years and for the last 10 years have been focusing on non formal learning, specifically training youth workers, trainers and other educators.
More recently, I have been working as the lead trainer on training for youth workers with the Erasmus+ Virtual Exchange initiative.
Daniel Dixon has 3 references for past work as a trainer and added 1 tools to the SALTO Toolbox.
Trainer & Facilitator
I qualified as a dialogue facilitator in 2018 through a course developed by Erasmus+ Virtual Exchange and Soliya and certified by UN Habitat. I have worked as an online facilitator since then through different intercultural programmes and activities.
Since 2018 ,I have also been the Training & Development Officer (Youth) at Erasmus+ Virtual Exchange. During this project, I have successfully trained 200+ youth workers to design, write and implement Transnational Exchange Projects (TEPs) and continue to support many of them to design and implement TEPs through ongoing workshops and training activities. The training was previously offered with a Higher Education focus, so this role required me to start from scratch and design a training course, specifically for youth workers, and for this I referred to the ETS Competence Model to ensure that the training would meet the needs of youth workers. I utilised my experience as a trainer in online learning environments and a trainer of youth workers to create a robust, effective and popular training course. I also support the Higher Education team to develop training courses for university staff and facilitate learning activities and provide online mentoring for students in several universities.
In addition to this position at Erasmus+ Virtual Exchange, I also run my own training company and a youth organisation and through these roles, have designed and implemented many training courses for youth workers, covering topics such a cyberbullying, media literacy, critical thinking, effective communication, effective youth work, virtual collaboration and efficiency for youth workers. For the last 2 years at the youth organisation, we have been integrating virtual elements into our projects and activities and find the addition of virtual activities brings a whole new dimension to our work, brings added value and allows us another medium to explore our topics/themes.
I also manage a community of youth workers that integrate virtual elements into their training courses and activities and through this community, provide support and mentoring, and we as a community, share opportunities, ideas and develop activities together.
I have also been an online teacher of English for over 10 years and have seen the many advances that have occurred over these years to make online learning effective, supportive and accessible.
In addition to my work as a trainer, I have also managed multiple online conferences with the Erasmus+ Virtual Exchange project, and other Erasmus+ projects.
I am an qualified English teacher and gravitated toward youth work and training many years ago.
More recently I have been delivering many training opportunities online and provide support and guidance to universities and youth organisations looking to incorporate virtual elements to their activities.
I am currently also studying psychology, and focusing on the psychology of learning.
