Educational pathway

My formal educational background is inspired and interconnected with my work and non-formal educational backgrounds. I conducted my Master’s degree in public policy analysis, where I chose to study and investigate how social movements develop and their impact on the making of public policies in 2017. My master’s thesis, “The Role of Women’s Rights Movements in reforming public policies after the Arab Spring in Jordan and Tunisia,” was awarded the National prestigious “Prešeren award for students'' from the faculty of social sciences at the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia in 2019.
I took my first official training as a trainer on the pedagogy of the oppressed in Jordan as a youth worker in the Y-Peer Network in 2010 and later on with the same network in Lebanon in 2011. Soon after, I undertook various international and national pieces of training on non-formal education, interactive theater, and forum theater from accredited centers like the National Centre for Culture and Performing Arts in Jordan, where I worked as a trainer and interactive theater actress in 2011. Later on, I became an intern in the DAWRAk Program by the Anna Lindh Foundation for Euro-Med dialogue; I undertook international training courses on intercultural learning, gender sensitivity learning, and experiential learning pedagogy. In 2016, I took a training course on cultural mediation provided by the International Organization for Migration IOM, where I am registered as a Cultural Mediator in their pool of cultural mediators.
My lifelong learning journey is an ongoing process; the most remarkable recent ones are as follows:
In 2019, I had a tremendously rich experience where I was invited to participate and contribute to the social innovation lab for Agenda 2030. The UNLEASH social innovation lab in Shenzhen-China by the United Nations, where I used educational liberative methods in an intercultural team for ten days to find solutions for global issues that hinder sustainable development.
In 2021, I undertook a training course on Gender Mainstreaming provided by the European Network of Political Foundation ENoP.
In 2022, I had a rich learning experience on critical thinking tools in a Bootcamp provided by the Med dialogue for Rights and Equality, who invited me later as a Med dialogue leader and experiential trainer and accepted my proposal to develop and implement non-formal educational tools using the pedagogy of the oppressed through arts and its based techniques to stimulate emotional intelligence and critical thinking toward gender and intercultural sensitivity learning free of gender and ethnic profiling and beyond borders in the Mediterranean region. I designed and implemented the training course in Slovenia with participants who identify as women and are Slovene or Migrants living in Slovenia; The participants who took part in my training produced the online campaign #RiseForGenderEquality and the declaration Mediterranean rise for Gender Equality, which combines statements with audiovisual materials made by the participants.
