Aims & objectives

The main goal of this training was to develop and strengthen the leadership skills of youth
workers, to formulate a strategy for attracting young people to various youth organizations.
The strategy helped each partner organization to create activities to attract young people to
its organizations. This also allowed them to plan ahead and monitor whether the
implementation of their programs has the desired effect. Further, the participants had the
chance to build and implement methodologies that involve youth not only as participants but
also as initiators of the organization’s working frame.
The specific objectives of the training course were:
• Identify key personal characteristics and characteristics of effective leadership in
youth organizations.
• Provide participants with practical skills to build self-confidence and creative thinking;
• Provide participants with appropriate tools for problem-solving, crisis management and
change management
• Identify the knowledge and experience of partner organizations and their needs through
this training.
• Develop a strategy for attracting more young people to different youth organizations.
• Promote key European values and career opportunities through the Erasmus + program.

Training methods used & main activities

I developed deliberative educational tools based on the pedagogy of the oppressed and the experiential learning cycle to stimulate emotional intelligence and self-directed learning.

Examples: Find your leading style through role-playing, reflecting, and evaluating before re-playing our roles as leaders with full awareness of our fluidity based on the contexts and the needs of our surroundings and people in our teams. I integrated this learning experience into intercultural and gender sensitivity learning through role-playing and theater-based techniques to explore the theories in practice and conduct an evaluation to connect the educational experiences to real-life scenarios.
I facilitated engaging educational activities that employ dance therapy techniques to stimulate emotional intelligence through body and movement in connection to inclusive and intercultural leadership in youth work.

Outcomes of the activity

The participants enhanced their intercultural leadership skills and created strategies for reaching out as youth workers and youth organizations in their societies. We built a network that functions till now via social media private groups where the participants are sharing and exchanging about good practices and the process during the implementation of the strategies that they developed as part of the training course.
