TOY - Trainers Online for Youth
http://trainers.salto-youth.net/SaraBertolino/
I am a youth worker, facilitator of learning processes, non-formal education trainer, both at the local and the international level. I am passionate about the topics of gender and queer issues, and I strive to face them through an intersectional lens: as Audre Lorde said, "there is no such thing as a single-issue struggle because we do not live single-issue lives".
Sara Bertolino has 3 references for past work as a trainer.
freelance trainer, project manager and youth worker
I have a strong focus on gender and queer issues, antidiscrimination, intersectionality, and social justice; I am experienced in working with young queer people, especially in intercultural and interreligious contexts. I bring my competences from working as a youth worker, NFE trainer, and project writer and manager for nearly 15 years in a youth organisation. I am used to working with young people and youth workers on these topics, especially in projects with the South Mediterranean region. From this work I also bring a deep knowledge on the practicalities, from designing to reporting, of KA1 and KA2 projects - from the perspective of a participant, a facilitator, organiser and mentor of ESC volunteers.
I am also experienced in the topic of neurodiversity, particularly in analysing and responding to specific learning requirements of autistic and ADHD people, leading to a deeper awareness of the concept of safe(r) spaces. I developed my competences by cooperating with a learning centre, where I worked as a youth worker and learning tutor for young people (11-19) with learning disabilities.
I have experience in queer and transfeminist activism work, from organising demonstrations to supervising educational activities for students, teachers, and healthcare professionals.
Since 2022 I have been focussing more and more on freelance training, on topics related to diversity and inclusion, both online and on-site. Recent trainings include working on organisation of inclusive activities; gender equity in the workplace; intersectionality and gender mainstreaming; inclusive language; intercultural dialogue, and antidiscrimination.
I have a background in social sciences: I studied Intercultural Communication at University, focussing on sociology, social and cultural anthropology, and history of religions.
I have specific training in Learning Disabilities, in terms of analysing diagnostic information, co-developing Individualised Education Programs, and designing compensatory tools through graphic facilitation.
Regarding Non Formal Education, I took part in multiple training courses, workshops, and seminars over the last 14 years, mostly regarding: intersectionality; gender and LGBTQIA+ rights; Human Rights Education; European competence frameworks (ETS Competence Model for youth workers); intercultural dialogue; international mobility and European Programs; non violent communication; the use of theatre in Non Formal Learning settings.
