The #YUM (Youth Uniting Minds – Embracing Diversity through Meals) Cookbook is the result of an Erasmus+ youth exchange that brought together young people from across Europe around a shared table in Orly-sur-Morin in April 2026.
More than just a collection of recipes, this cookbook is a celebration of cultural diversity, friendship, and collaboration, where food becomes a universal language that connects people beyond borders.
At the heart of the YUM project lies a simple but powerful idea: when we cook and eat together, we create space for understanding, empathy, and dialogue. Through culinary workshops, storytelling, and shared meals, participants explored each other’s traditions, discovered new perspectives, and built meaningful connections. Each recipe in this cookbook carries not only ingredients and instructions, but also personal memories, cultural heritage, and the voices of young people working together for a more inclusive and peaceful Europe.
This publication reflects the mission of the YUM project: to promote intercultural dialogue and social inclusion through food. It brings together traditional dishes from different countries, highlighting how culinary practices can break stereotypes and strengthen mutual respect. By sharing their recipes, participants also share a part of themselves—transforming the kitchen into a space for learning, openness, and connection.
The cookbook also represents the project’s broader objectives. It showcases how young people developed leadership, teamwork, and communication skills while collaborating in multicultural teams. It stands as a tangible outcome of their creativity and cooperation, alongside digital outputs such as social media reels and a final project video documenting their journey and impact.
Above all, the YUM Cookbook is an invitation. An invitation to sit at “One Table,” to explore diversity through taste, and to continue building bridges between cultures. It is a reminder that even simple meals can carry powerful stories—and that shared food can help shape a more tolerant, understanding, and united world.
