Y-Motion Toolkit is a toolkit for youth workers, educators and theatre/dance practitioners for using contemporary dance in working with young people from rural areas. It consists contemporary dance/youth work theory, sources and practical dance exercises.

Aims of the tool

The aims of the toolkit are:

1. To enhance competences of youth workers for using contemporary dance in direct work with young people.

2. To promote contemporary dance as an inclusive tool for strengthening young people in social skills and participation.

3. To raise awareness about the role of art in personal and social development of young people in rural areas.

Description of the tool

Learning outcomes:

Participants will be able to use contemporary dance as a tool for self-expression, exploring emotions, ideas, and personal experiences through movement in a safe and inclusive environment.

Participants will develop body awareness and movement confidence, improving their understanding of posture, balance, coordination, spatial awareness, and non-verbal communication.

Participants will strengthen teamwork and collaboration skills by engaging in co-creative movement processes, group choreography, and collective reflection activities.

Participants will increase their capacity for creativity and critical thinking by experimenting with improvisation, movement exploration, and artistic problem-solving techniques.

Participants will learn how to facilitate inclusive contemporary dance activities in youth work settings, adapting exercises to different abilities, backgrounds, and learning needs while promoting participation and social inclusion.
