This toolbox was made after the youth exchange "Social Enterprise: Next Generation" that was held in Rijeka in October 2013. Young people gathered and developed a business plan for a social entreprise and shared their knowledge and experiences about it.

Aims of the tool

-to introduce basic aspects of social entrepreneurship
-to introduce basic aspects of business plan development
-to give an overview of good practices in the field of social entrepreneurship
-to encourage young people to develop business ideas that are not based only on profit, but also have a social dimension

Description of the tool

In this toolbox, you can find a short introduction to the concept of social entrepreneurship and its main characteristics with the goal to differentiate it from a purely profitable social venture.
There are also several examples of successful social enterprises around the world that can serve as a motivation and can give an idea about how a social enterprise should function.
An important part of any business, including the one with social goals, is a business plan - a document that serves as a basis for reaching your business milestones in a set span of time. The outline of a business plan as presented in this toolbox can be used as a guide for people who are starting or managing their own businesses for the first time and it should be adressed regularly during the business development.

  • I just wanted to congratulate everyone responsible for this great project. Hopefully, similar project will someday be organized in Macedonia, so my organization NGO Ergos from Skopje would have the opportunity to be a part of something this valuable and life-changing.
Again, sincere congratulations, not every project has this kind of direct impact on human lives.
    Best regards,

  • This is a good tool for young (first time) business planners.
Maybe more detail at Section 8 would be needed for funders, and more detail about the longer term (Needs Analysis + Sustainability), but we will be using this clear logical model. Many thanks.
