Time to Act

Aims of the tool

The publication aims to support young people and youth workers in exploring sustainability, environmental responsibility and the SDGs through experiential and outdoor learning. It presents youth reflections, activities and key lessons from the Time to Act youth exchange, with the aim of inspiring responsible consumption, climate action, peer learning and practical local follow-up initiatives.

Description of the tool

Time to Act Publication is a youth-friendly learning resource developed after the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange “Time to Act”, implemented in Dobczyce, Poland, from 5–13 May 2026. The publication presents the learning journey of young people exploring sustainability, environmental responsibility, climate action and the UN Sustainable Development Goals through non-formal education, outdoor learning and peer-to-peer activities.

The tool combines project reflections, educational content and practical examples from the exchange. It covers topics such as responsible consumption, personal sustainability habits, respect for nature as climate action, outdoor education, teamwork, shared responsibility, educational hiking, outdoor cooking, navigation, peer learning and local follow-up actions.

A strong focus is placed on learning by experience. The publication shows how young people can understand environmental topics more deeply when they are connected with real situations: walking together in nature, preparing food outdoors, organising themselves in task groups, facilitating peer workshops and reflecting on their own choices.

The resource can be used by youth workers, educators, group leaders and young people who want to explore sustainability and the SDGs in a practical, participatory and youth-centred way. It can support workshops, youth exchanges, local eco-actions, reflection sessions, peer education activities and follow-up initiatives in youth organisations, schools or informal youth groups.

Learning outcomes

After using this publication, learners can:

-better understand the connection between sustainability, daily habits and global environmental challenges;
-recognise the role of the SDGs, especially climate action, responsible consumption, life on land, quality education and partnerships;
-reflect on their own consumption choices and identify realistic ways to live more sustainably;
-understand nature as a space for learning, reflection, cooperation and climate awareness;
-experience how outdoor activities such as hiking, navigation and outdoor cooking can develop responsibility, teamwork and communication;
-see young people as active contributors, peer educators and multipliers of sustainability messages;
-design simple peer learning activities connected with the SDGs;
-develop ideas for local follow-up actions, awareness campaigns or community-based environmental initiatives;
-strengthen intercultural cooperation and understand that environmental challenges require shared responsibility across communities and countries.
