Learning objectives:
- Improve understanding of quality support throughout the volunteering process.
- Explore methods for mentoring, motivation and inclusion.
- Support volunteers' reflection and recognition of learning outcomes.
- Adapt educational approaches to different volunteering programmes

Description of the tool

The Quality of the Volunteering Process was developed through the Erasmus+ KA210-YOU project Building Bridges, Bridging Communities: Volunteering in the Community Landscape (BBBC), in cooperation between pewobe gGmbH (Germany), Alternativa Realitate (Latvia) and My Madeira Island (Portugal).

The manual responds to practical challenges faced by organisations supporting volunteers. Its development was informed by a needs assessment involving 21 youth workers and volunteer support staff and by partners' experience with local volunteering, European Solidarity Corps individual volunteering and volunteering teams.

It explores different aspects of the volunteering process, including preparation and support, motivation, mentoring, intercultural communication, inclusion, learning reflection and recognition of competences.

The manual can help organisations review their existing practices, develop support activities and adapt methods to different volunteering contexts.
