Find out about expectations on the first programme day and make them visible to everybody else.

Description of the tool

Ask participants to write their expectations towards 1) the programme of the course, 2) to the team and 3) to rest of the group (or other topics you would like to find out participants expectations about). Particpants use one particular colour paper per topic. You can ask the participants to do this anonymously of with their names written on it. When people are ready, they can stick it on the board or wall.
After this either participants can comment verbally the expectations or a member of the trainers team could make a short summary of the expectations (and hopefuylly link it into the course programme).

Variations: There are many different ways to run this exercise, eg. using a paper-tree (you can then come back to it in the end and add the fruits of the week), suitcases, paper clothes (underwear for fears, clothes for hopes) and hang them on a washing line...No limits to your imagination!
