A project booklet presenting a youth exchange on peace-building and Positive Youth Development (PYD), including the programme structure, tested non-formal activities, and a self-guided mindfulness trail, ready for other youth workers to adapt/reuse.

Aims of the tool

1.To share an idea for combining outdoor education, experiential learning, and peace education in youth work.

2.To present a good practice for a project addressing inner, interpersonal, and community-level peace, structured around the 5 Cs of Positive Youth Development.

Description of the tool

This booklet documents "Roots of Harmony," a 7-day Erasmus+ Youth Exchange (8–16 June 2026) that brought together 24 young people from 4 countries around the themes of Positive Youth Development, peace-building, and outdoor/experiential education.
It sets out the project's aim and three-part objective structure (inner peace and nature; teamwork and communication; community action), and introduces its two core frameworks: the 5 Cs of Positive Youth Development (Competence, Confidence, Connection, Character, Caring, leading to Contribution), and a three-level model of peace (inner, interpersonal, community).

The booklet includes four non-formal activities as inspiration: Blind Trail Walk, Tower of Power, Pipe Race, and Feelings & Values Walk and Talk.

The project's central result is the Harmony Trail, a hiking route with six mindfulness stations, co-designed and tested by participants, and accessible to other groups via a QR-coded map.
