This toolkit offers 17 creative, art-based tools to support remigrant youth in exploring identity and belonging. Each activity includes clear steps, materials, goals, and reflection prompts to help foster inclusion and self-expression.

Aims of the tool

To equip youth workers with accessible, creative tools that support remigrant youth in expressing their identity, processing change, and building connection, while promoting inclusion and emotional well-being through art-based activities.

Description of the tool

This publication is a practical toolkit for youth workers supporting remigrant youth—young people navigating the return to their or their family’s country of origin. Often caught between cultures, these youth face unique identity and integration challenges. To address this, we developed 17 art-based activities designed to encourage creative expression, reflection, and a sense of belonging. Each tool includes step-by-step instructions, estimated timing, a list of easy-to-source materials, clear objectives, and guided reflection questions. These flexible methods can be adapted to various groups and contexts, and are meant to foster deeper understanding and emotional support through artistic practice. Whether you're just starting or looking to enrich your work, we hope this toolkit inspires new ways to connect with and empower remigrant youth.
