Dividing groups in smaller groups in a funny and creative way by using different senses than usual

Description of the tool

You ask all members of the group to close the eyes and stick out on of their wrists. The facilitators spray/apply the different smells on different wrists according to whom they want to have in the same group (same perfume) or in different groups (distinct smells). Once the person has been sprayed, he or she can lower the hand (to indicate that they have some smell already)
It helps to have more than one person applying the smells (for time reasons) but it needs some coordination to have equal number of participants in each group.

Comments

  • It once happened to me that a participant was allergic to perfume (skin reaction) so in stead of spraying on the skin, you can spray on a piece of clothing or on a slip of paper. Or you could give the participants (anonymous) cups/containers with different smelling product (vinager, wine, rose water, etc)
