Description of the tool

The MindFit Mental Well-being Toolkit for Sports is a practical collection of evidence-informed activities and exercises designed to promote mental health and emotional well-being among young athletes. Developed within the Erasmus+ Sport project MindFit: Tackle Your Thoughts, the toolkit provides coaches, trainers, youth workers, and sports educators with ready-to-use resources that can be easily integrated into sports training sessions, youth activities, and educational programmes.

The toolkit addresses key aspects of mental well-being in sports, including mindfulness, stress management, resilience, self-confidence, emotional regulation, communication, healthy routines, goal setting, team relationships, conflict resolution, and help-seeking behaviour. Each activity includes clear objectives, step-by-step instructions, reflection opportunities, and practical applications relevant to sports environments.

Designed for non-formal and experiential learning, the toolkit encourages active participation, self-reflection, peer learning, and group discussion. Activities can be delivered independently or combined into broader learning programmes, making the resource adaptable to different sports, age groups, and organisational contexts.

By promoting mental well-being alongside physical development, the toolkit supports the creation of positive, inclusive, and psychologically safe sports environments where athletes can develop the skills needed to cope with challenges both in sport and everyday life.
