A toolkit developed during the E+ TC “Level the Field” that contains inclusive sports and non-formal education activities designed by youth workers from 7 European countries. The activities were tested with children from Colégio do Marítimo in Madeira.

Aims of the tool

The aim of this tool is to support youth workers, educators, trainers and sports facilitators in using sport and play as practical methods for social inclusion. It provides tested, adaptable and easy-to-implement activities that promote teamwork, communication, empathy, cooperation, active participation and equal opportunities among children and young people.

Developed within the Erasmus+ Training Course “Level the Field”, the toolkit helps facilitators design inclusive learning environments where sport becomes more than physical activity: it becomes a tool for participation, intercultural dialogue, empowerment and community building.

Description of the tool

This toolkit presents a collection of inclusive sports and movement-based activities created during the Erasmus+ Training Course “Level the Field”, implemented in Funchal, Madeira. The activities were developed by youth workers from 7 European countries and tested with children aged 7–10 in a real educational context at Colégio do Marítimo.

The tool is designed for youth workers, educators, trainers, teachers, sports coaches and community facilitators who want to use sport as a non-formal education method for inclusion, participation and youth empowerment.

Each activity includes clear instructions, materials needed, group size, learning outcomes and inclusion adaptations. The activities can be adapted to different ages, abilities, group sizes and educational settings.

Through this toolkit, learners can develop the following outcomes:

Understand how sport and play can be used as tools for social inclusion and active participation;
Design and facilitate inclusive sports activities in youth work or educational contexts;
Promote teamwork, communication, empathy, cooperation and fair play;
Adapt activities to different physical, social and learning needs;
Strengthen facilitation, leadership and group management skills;
Encourage intercultural dialogue, peer learning and community engagement;
Create safer and more participatory learning environments for children and young people.

The toolkit supports learning-by-doing, reflection and active participation, helping facilitators transform simple games into meaningful non-formal education experiences.
