"Inclusion Is Being Asked To Dance" is a tool for educating diversity and inclusion through traditional folk dances.
The tool is created by the European Youth Press in cooperation with INEDNET, Scambeuropei, Infinity Greece and Bulgarian Youth Forum.

Aims of the tool

The aim of "Inclusion Is Being Asked To Dance" is to serve as a transformative tool for educating diversity and inclusion through traditional folk dances. Through this tool, the project seeks to achieve the following:

Educational Focus: The tool aims to educate participants about diversity and inclusion, emphasizing respecting different cultures, fostering intercultural dialogue, and promoting equality.

Cultural Understanding: By incorporating traditional folk dances, the tool strives to deepen cultural understanding among participants. It encourages them to appreciate and celebrate the rich diversity of dance forms, recognizing the cultural nuances embedded in each.

Inclusive Learning: The tool promotes an inclusive learning environment where participants practice and explore traditional folk dances. This hands-on approach fosters a sense of inclusivity and unity among participants.

Building Bridges: Traditional folk dances are employed to build bridges between individuals from diverse backgrounds. The tool aims to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create connections that contribute to a more inclusive society.

Catalyst for Attitudinal Change: Through active participation in traditional folk dances, the tool aims to instigate attitudinal change. It encourages participants to adopt more inclusive perspectives, fostering a tolerant and accepting attitude towards others.

Tool for Mental Well-being: Beyond its educational aspects, the tool recognizes the potential of traditional folk dances to enhance mental well-being among youth. Engaging in these cultural activities is viewed as a means of education a source of joy and positive mental health.

Description of the tool

The benefits of this tool:
1. Video Materials on Overcoming Exclusion and Discrimination:
Learning Outcome: Participants gain insights into the transformative power of dance as a tool to overcome exclusion and discrimination. Videos showcase real-life examples, fostering awareness and understanding.

2. Original Video Tutorials by Participants:
Learning Outcome: Participants create step-by-step video tutorials, explaining and demonstrating traditional dances. This hands-on approach enhances their communication skills, cultural understanding, and ability to convey inclusive elements.

3. Descriptions of 8 Dances from 5 Countries:
Learning Outcome: Learners access comprehensive English descriptions of eight traditional dances from five countries. This fosters cultural appreciation, broadens cultural knowledge, and promotes cross-cultural understanding.
Comparative Chart on Inclusive Elements:

4. Learning Outcome: Participants collaboratively create a comparative chart highlighting inclusive elements in dances. This promotes critical thinking, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of how dance fosters inclusivity, breaks down barriers, and celebrates diversity.

5. Dance as a Tool for Inclusion Guide for Youth Workers and Trainers:
Learning Outcome: Youth workers and trainers receive a step-by-step guide on utilizing dance as a tool for inclusion. This resource equips them with practical strategies, enhancing their facilitation skills and empowering them to conduct similar activities in diverse settings.
