Approach the Basque Traditional sports and games plus the Basque history to participants through an intercultural activity

Description of the tool

We divide the group in 4 smaller groups, maximum of 6 or 7 people each, and we put the boardgame on the floor (if it can be 1 meter square board to be set on the floor better).

In the board there are different images representing different things to do: challenge another group to compete in a traditional Basque Sport, performance a concrete action given by the people leading the game for your group and see if they guess what it is without talking, go back to the start point, etc.

All these instructions appear in the set of instructions file you will find at the end of the page.

Once everybody has clear which are the rules of the game and the meaning of each of the images (boxes) that appear in the board, the game start.

To select which group start playing they through the dices to see who gets a higher score and then the game starts.

The "winner" is the group that arrives the first one to the last box.

This game can be transfer to any group and can be adapt to different topics. In our case, it was the tool that the hosting group used to run the workshop they were suppose to run in order to show the others their traditional sports and games, in this case the Basque Traditional Sports, and to introduce them to their culture in an interactive and competitive way.
