The "Green Job Growth Competences Guidebook" is a foundational resource for youth workers, detailing essential green skills for sustainable employability and bridging gaps in non-formal learning methodologies.
The "Green Job Growth Competences Guidebook" (PR1) aims to empower youth workers with the knowledge and tools necessary to foster sustainable development and green employability among young people. This guidebook is part of the broader Green Job Growth (GJG) project, led by "Bridging Europe" and in collaboration with partners across Europe. It seeks to address the urgent global imperative of transitioning towards sustainable development by cultivating a new generation of environmentally conscious and skilled youth workers.
The Guidebook emerges against the backdrop of increasing environmental challenges and the global shift towards a low-carbon, sustainable economic paradigm. It highlights the essential role youth workers play in shaping future generations, providing them with a comprehensive overview of green skills crucial for sustainable employability. Through extensive online questionnaires and detailed face-to-face interviews with over 130 youth workers from Germany, Italy, and Spain, the guidebook gathers valuable insights into the existing educational gaps in green skills training.
A central feature of the GJG project is the development of a "Key Competencies and Methodology Matrix," which outlines the important knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to effectively teach green skills to young people. This matrix serves as a roadmap for youth workers, offering guidance on pedagogical approaches and the development of curricula that integrate environmental awareness, sustainable development, waste management, renewable energy, and carbon footprint reduction.
Furthermore, the guidebook provides a foundation for the creation of e-learning modules and a toolkit for youth workers, enhancing their capacity to develop and enhance young people's green skills. Through its comprehensive analysis and practical tools, the guidebook aims to inspire and equip youth workers to become effective green coaches, contributing to the growth of a green economy and a more sustainable future.
