Fashion is Freedom
The Fashion Manifesto “Fashion is Freedom” encouraged youth to reflect on their fashion choices and promote sustainable, ethical, and responsible attitudes toward clothing to be able save as many things as possible.
Aims of the tool
- Raise awareness about the impact of fast fashion and overconsumption.
- Encourage responsible and mindful fashion choices.
- Promote ethical brands, clothing reuse, and sustainability.
- Inspire participants to express their values through fashion.
Description of the tool
During the Fashion Manifesto workshop in the “UpCycle Life” Erasmus+ youth exchange, participants used drawings and personal statements to express their views on sustainable fashion. They reflected on harmful habits such as following short-lived trends, supporting fast fashion, and treating clothes as disposable. At the same time, they promoted positive alternatives such as buying fewer but higher-quality clothes, donating unused garments, supporting ethical brands, and taking better care of clothing they already own. Participants demonstrated that “Fashion is Freedom” when it respects both people and the planet, encouraging a more conscious and sustainable approach to fashion.
