European salad

Description of the tool

The leader stands in the middle of the circle and describes a quality which could refer to several of the other players present and at the same time relates to Europe e.g. ‘everyone who speaks more than 3 european languages’ or ‘those who have already visited a European institution’ or ‘everyone who voted in the last European election’ etc. All those who fit this description must now change places. The person in the middle tries to occupy one of the free spaces so that somebody else must stand in the middle. Now they must think of a ‘European characteristic’. If they can’t think of anything quickly then they can shout ‘European salad’ and all the participants must then change places.
Note: it can be that the participants can’t think of anything ‘European’ and the game therefore doesn’t quite work. To avoid this several examples from different areas should be given at the beginning e.g. ‘those who know…(how many countries there are in the EU/ what the Greek flag looks like…)’, ‘those who have been to…(at least 5 different European countries…)’. It should also be clearly pointed out that it is possible to shout ‘European salad’.
