It presents the results of a survey in 6 Eu countries which investigated the employers' point of view on the value of volunteering as a training experience for the development of key competences appreciated in the selection of the job seekers.
The survey results are aimed at providing insights on the added value of volunteering experiences in the CV of the job seekers as a critical element for the entrepreneurs while selecting workers. This information are aimed at helping the staff in any guidance and training center to improve the quality of
volunteering programs, finding the best way to meet the specific personal empowerment
needs to the needs of the reference communities.
The purpose of this survey is to help unemployed and disadvantaged people to be aware of the potential of volunteering in terms of impacts for the empowerment of relevant skills in the job market. This tool was realized in the frame of an Erasmus+ project entitled "Yes volunteering", supporting the exchange of best practices in adult education from 6 Eu countries.
The report provide insight and information to better understand why is it decisive for employers that the candidate write in his CV whether he has volunteered or not. Most of the respondents agreed that the volunteering experience has contributed to better outcomes for workers and that volunteering is useful for improving a variety of skills, interpersonal skills and transversal but also technical professional skills of workers. Above all, the report highlight why&how volunteering is recognized as a valid opportunity for candidates with low profile of experience, who finish school and have not yet been able to develop the skills required to enter the job market. This tool was realized in the frame of an Erasmus+ project entitled "Yes volunteering", supporting the exchange of best practices in adult education from 6 Eu countries.
