An Erasmus+ booklet presenting methods and practices for improving emotional intelligence, communication and conflict management among young people from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Aims of the tool

To support youth workers with practical methods and non-formal education tools for preventing and resolving conflicts among young people through emotional intelligence, intercultural communication and constructive dialogue.

Description of the tool

This booklet was created during the Erasmus+ Training Course Code for Connection, held in Sfântu Gheorghe, Romania, between 8-14 February 2026. It gathers practical methods, reflections and experiences developed by 40 youth workers from different European countries.

The main focus of the booklet is to help youth workers strengthen emotional intelligence, improve communication skills and apply conflict resolution methods when working with young people, especially those from culturally diverse or marginalized backgrounds.

The booklet includes topics such as emotional intelligence in youth work, intercultural communication, mediation techniques, communication barriers, experiential learning through theatre, community research, Erasmus+ project development and practical youth work applications.

Learning outcomes include:
- better understanding of emotional intelligence and conflict prevention
- improved mediation and communication skills
- stronger intercultural awareness and empathy
- practical tools for youth work activities
- inspiration for future Erasmus+ projects and international cooperation

This resource can be adapted for workshops, youth centres, seminars and training activities.

The booklet can be used flexibly depending on the activity. Individual methods may take 30–90 minutes, while the full training process can be adapted into workshops lasting from 1 day to 7 days.
