What are the difficulties and challenges of staff that implements mobility projects for people with intellectual disabilities? This NEEDS ANALYSIS REPORT gives an overview of the challenges faced by staff and participants. [PR.I.M.E. Tool]

Aims of the tool

This report results from a needs analysis done EU wide to gather the difficulties and challenges faced by project staff when implementing inclusive mobilities. This is a useful resource for project managers, mentors, facilitators, trainers, that want to implement inclusive mobilities, to have a first look on what kind of challenges they may face.

Description of the tool

This report results from a needs analysis done EU wide to organisations that work with people with disabilities, organisations that work with mobility projects, or organisations that work with both (inclusive mobilities).
Through a literature review, 370 online surveys collected, 9 Focus Group and 5 Interviews (in video available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3P5zlqTUBI&list=PLsh0jETkRgyZvF8EqRp6IqjCRE3ybmKRC), it gathers the difficulties and challenges faced by project staff (and participants) when implementing mobility projects for people with intellectual disabilities.
Being an organisation working with people with disabilities, why don't you do mobility projects?
If you do mobility projects, what prevents you to involve people with disabilities?
If you already do inclusive mobility projects, what are the challenges you face at application stage, before mobility, during mobility and after mobility?
This report collects the answers and includes feedback of the 9 Focus Group done to:
- Project staff (project managers, mentors, tutors, coordinators, accompanying persons...)
- Persons with intellectual disabilities who never participated in mobility projects
- Family members of people with intellectual disabilities, who have or have not participate in mobility projects
- Former participants of mobility projects with intellectual diabilities.
Furthermore, the 5 Video Interviews were done to:
- a Project manager and mentor from Malta
- a Mentor from Lithuania
- an Accompanying person from Lithuania
- a Former participant with intellectual disabilities from Italy
- a Project manager from France

By getting access to this resource, project staff may develop knowledge on the real situation of mobility projects and its implementation involving people with disabilities, increasing the awareness on the challenges and difficulties. With this aknowledgement, it is easier to prevent and decrease the level of risk, find solutions and alternatives, and increase the willingness to put in practice.
