Outcome of the Erasmus+ Seminar “Artistic Expression to Facilitate Youth Inclusion Processes”, held in November 2024 in Chieti (Italy), presenting a shared methodological manifesto on the use of art as a tool for youth inclusion and active participation.
The aim of this publication is to provide youth workers, educators, artists, facilitators and organisations with approaches, reflections and practical examples on how artistic expression can be used to promote social inclusion, active citizenship and personal development of young people, especially those with fewer opportunities. It also aims to support the creation of inclusive and participatory environments through creative and artistic processes.
Artistic expression represents a powerful tool for engaging young people, allowing them to explore their identity, express their ideas and actively participate in society. This publication is the result of an Erasmus+ Seminar that gathered youth workers, educators, artists and volunteers from different European countries to exchange good practices and experiences on the use of art in youth work.
The manifesto collects the outcomes of this collective process, including case studies, methodologies and reflections on how artistic and creative approaches can foster inclusion, participation and community engagement. Different forms of artistic expression: such as visual arts, performance, and creative workshops, are presented as tools to address social challenges, promote dialogue and empower young people.
The learning outcomes of this publication include increased competences in using art-based methods in youth work, enhanced understanding of inclusive and participatory approaches, and the ability to design creative activities that support self-expression, critical thinking and social engagement. It also encourages the development of safe spaces where young people can share their voices and actively contribute to their communities.
