Manual
A practical Erasmus+ resource with tested art-based workshops, energisers and teambuilding activities that help young people explore inclusion, discrimination, social barriers and intercultural understanding through non-formal education.
The booklet aims to provide youth workers, NGOs, educators and volunteers with practical and adaptable non-formal education methods for promoting inclusion and addressing discrimination, stereotypes and social barriers through art and creativity.
It also aims to strengthen young people’s empathy, intercultural understanding, teamwork, communication, critical thinking and self-expression, while encouraging other organisations to replicate and adapt the tested activities in their own local and international youth initiatives.
This educational booklet is developed following the Erasmus+ youth exchange implemented in Yambol, Bulgaria, with young people and youth workers from Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Spain and Italy.
The publication presents a collection of activities that were implemented and tested during the mobility, including art-based workshops, energisers, teambuilding games and educational sessions. Each method includes clear objectives, required materials, step-by-step implementation and reflection questions, making the booklet easy to use and adapt in different youth-work contexts.
The activities address topics such as discrimination, racism, stereotypes, social and cultural barriers, inclusion and intercultural understanding. Examples include Forum Theatre, Inclusive World Café, Human Library, Inclusive Portraits, Origami Theatre, Inclusive Movie, National Inclusion Presentation, Erasmus+ Writing and several energisers and teambuilding methods. The tool is designed mainly for youth workers, facilitators, NGOs, educators and volunteers who want to create safe, participatory learning spaces and use creativity to explore sensitive social issues. The methods can be implemented individually or adapted according to the needs, age and background of a group.
Beyond sharing the methodology of the project, the booklet also promotes Erasmus+ and demonstrates how non-formal education, intercultural learning and artistic expression can be combined to create meaningful learning experiences for young people.
