Presentation
ALEX is an inclusive and private chatbot containing over 70 expert-curated chats from our sex and relational health programme covering gender, consent, LGBTQI+ topics, pleasure, and more - available on Instagram and our website: alexbot.eu
The aim of ALEX is to provide a holistic sex and relational health (SRH) programme embedded in an interactive chatbot. It offers over 70 expert-curated lessons supported by infographics, quizzes, and GIFs to enhance engagement and understanding. Designed for youth and youth workers in mind, the tool covers a wide range of often under-represented topics, such as gender-specific puberty changes, healthy relationships, LGBTQI+ rights, sexual pleasure, contraception, and online safety, all within a private, non-judgmental format. By using platforms youth can trust, like Instagram and an anonymous website plugin, ALEX supports self-paced learning, strengthens media literacy, and helps dismantle stigma around SRH topics.
ALEX: The SexEd Bot is an interactive learning tool created within the Erasmus+ project, designed to teach holistic sex and relational health (SRH) in a way that’s inclusive, engaging, and accessible to youth. Built as a chatbot, ALEX allows users to explore over 70 expert-curated chats that align with international guidelines (UNESCO, WHO) on SRH education.
The content is structured across 8 core themes: relationships, sexual thoughts and behaviour, sexual orientation and gender, inclusion and staying safe, contraception and pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, my changing body, and how the internet impacts our sexual health. Each theme is delivered through short, conversational chats enriched with visual aids like infographics, GIFs, and quizzes to support different learning styles and improve retention.
ALEX is accessible via Instagram (alexbot.eu) and a website plugin (including a GPT-powered version), with the goal of offering private, user-led exploration at a flexible pace. This empowers youth to ask sensitive questions without shame and receive scientifically accurate, inclusive information in return.
Learning outcomes include:
- Improved understanding of SRH concepts (consent, gender, contraception, etc.)
- Increased media literacy to identify misinformation online
- Strengthened awareness of rights and respectful relationship dynamics
- Better access to reliable, stigma-free information, especially for LGBTQI+ youth, young women, and those with disabilities or learning difficulties
Youth workers can also use ALEX as a pedagogical aid, supported by a User Manual, Creation Manual, and Best Practices Toolbox. All resources are available on our website: alexbot.eu
