Academic Society "Novi Beograd"

Akademsko društvo za proučavanje i čuvanje kulturnog stvaralaštva "Novi Beograd" - VTŠ is association of citizens that in different forms works in the last 40 years in New Belgrade.

It was the first non-governmental organisation that was established in this part of Belgrade. It was founded in order to offer opportunities to children and young people to usefully spend their free time. Through the years, the organisation was mainly oriented on working with art, dance, music, theatre, traditions and healthy lifestyle of youth, but in the last 5 years, AD "Novi Beograd" also works as youth club, sport club and youth carrier center.

In this moment, the organisation has around 450 active members, aged from 3 to 90 years old, but mainly high school and university students. There is a saying that there is no building in New Belgrade in which there is no at least one present or ex member of our organisation living. The Youth Club of our organisation is mainly dealing with youth issues such as active participation, citizenship awareness, fight against discrimination and extremism, inclusion, etc.

We are running local workshops, actions, projects and initiatives alone or in cooperation with other youth organisations and institutions in New Belgrade, particularly Municipality of New Belgrade, Students cultural center and the College of Tourism whose facilities we are using in the last 30 years. We have equipped Club, office and other space that we can use for our activities.

AD "Novi Beograd" implemented many local youth projects regarding active participation and citizenship. The municipality of New Belgrade in which the organisation is active has very specific structure of citizens and it is considered the most urban and modern community in this part of Europe. Negative behavior of youth, social issues, exclusion and similar issues are common in such situations. We are trying to develop programs that are answering those issues. International cooperation can help us to create innovative approaches and exchange experience with similar youth organisations.
