Make your activities more inclusive and diversity-aware
With this online training course, we aim to support national agencies to organise their activities in a diversity-aware way, tailored to a wide range of identities and requirements. This training invites ID officers, TCA/NET officers, and other national‑agency staff who organise events, to strengthen their skills, competencies and attitudes—so that their activities are more inclusive, and everyone feels welcome and can participate regardless of individual background or requirements.
Why participate?
In this training you will:
- Explore aspects of inclusive and diversity-aware activity design - including outreach, logistics, methods, team and communication - and understand how to prepare for and adapt to barriers and participant requirements.
- Develop a deeper awareness of (potential) participants’ requirements and the wide range of barriers that might hinder them from feeling welcome and safe.
- Reflect on why inclusion and diversity matter and how they relate to you personally and your national agency.
- Take concrete steps to improve your practices.
After the course, we will organise mentoring sessions for those who want support in planning an activity and putting the learnings into practice. The content of each mentoring session is determined in consultation with the trainers, and the duration is up to two hours.
Who is this webinar for?
- This webinar is for ID officers, TCA/NET officers and other national agency officers who are implementing activities (with and without overnight stays).
- In particular national agency officers who are responsible for programme design, logistics, team, outreach, selection of participants or communication in activities are invited to participate in this webinar.
- We welcome beginners, experts and all profiles in between. What counts is that participants are open to learn more about designing inclusive and diversity-aware activities, and implementing it in work practice(s).
A non-formal learning approach
Nobody is perfect, luckily! We can all learn from each other to improve our work practices. We will start by looking at what you already bring (knowledge, attitudes, practices). Through a mix of inputs and non-formal methods (learning by doing, trying out, time for sharing and reflecting) we hope to empower you to get better in what you do. The course endeavours to be an example of an inclusive activity, so you can take tips, practices and tools from it to your own work.
