The Youth Dialogue event was organized by Youth Regional Center in the framework of the Council of Europe project Youth revitalizing democracy: Democracy here | Democracy now, to support the advancement of the implementation of the Georgian National Youth Policy Concept. The event brought together young people, youth civil society, and local and national authorities representatives from Georgia and other member states of the Council of Europe for a three-day event to strengthen youth participation in democratic processes.
The objectives were:
- to identify and discuss challenges faced by young people in participating in community life, including decision-making and paying particular attention to the challenges faced by vulnerable young people;
- to strengthen the capacities of local authorities, youth civil society, and young people to develop and maintain democratic and inclusive youth participation structures at local, regional, and national levels;
- to share and learn from good practices in the eld of youth participation, notably standards, mechanisms, and tools;
- to create a space for dialogue between young people, youth civil society, and national and local authorities.
Participants of this activity were young activists, representatives of youth groups/youth organizations/youth dedicated projects, youth workers, and representatives of local or national authorities. The group of participants was composed of participants from Georgia and international participants coming from other member states of the Council of Europe.
The event was based on non-formal education and involved various interactive activities, group work, creative performances, panel discussions, reflection, planning, and networking.
Over the course of three days, the event successfully brought together young individuals, representatives from youth civil society, and local and national authorities from Georgia. The project achieved its objectives by facilitating discussions on challenges faced by young people in community participation, emphasizing the experiences of vulnerable youth. Moreover, it strengthened the capacities of youth civil society and young individuals in developing and sustaining democratic and inclusive youth participation structures at various levels. The event provided a platform for sharing and learning from good practices in the field of youth participation, including standards, mechanisms, and tools.
I worked as a full-time trainer on this event, prepared and implemented the program elements.
