The Summer Camp brought together activist from conflict regions and was framed under the theme community organising. In three parallel running working groups, the participants spoke about Workers' Right, Education and Gender. The main aim was to enable the activist to work together beyond the conflict itself.
Within the working group Workers' Right, we had the following objectives:
- Participants learn about the role of trade unions
- Participants connect workers’ rights with community building
- Participants develop tools from case studies
- Participants discuss the role of work in their life
We had participants from conflict regions. The educational team was composed of four people from Austria, Germany, Israel and Spain.
I used solely non-formal educational methods combined with Visual Facilitation. The group worked a lot in changing small groups to give them as time with different people as possible to build stronger connections.
The participants got empowered to engage in community organising. Many described the opportunity to speak about the conflicts through another topic and therefore actually learn from others. Especially the women* in the group experienced a lot of personal growth.
I was the trainer for one of three working groups which I co-facilitated with a representative of the organisation. I was responsible for the development of the education program of the group. Further, I supported the facilitation of the joint moments after the instruction of the educational advisor.
