Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

Groups of young people, from four different countries: Spain, Poland, Turkey and Italy, representing a mix group of young people and young people with fewer opportunities, met in Rome to attend and get a deeper knowledge on volunteering and volunteering work, develop leadership skills and learning the opportunities of social work, focusing on benefits of exploring cultural diversity (and its implications).

Training methods used & main activities

We develop the participants' skills through practical methods and "active learning". This is why we combine the elements of non-formal education with working on real tasks, making actual creating video tutorials. Most of our sessions involve a mix of formal learning and non-formal methods, such as - games, team-buildings, visual methods, competitions, theater, drama, role-plays, group work, peer to peer learning, discussion etc

Outcomes of the activity

- acquired deeper understanding of (the backgrounds of) volunteering and volunteering work, offering the possibility to the young people to identify common areas of cooperation and intervention with other young people from different countries in spite of their cultural differences.
- equipped young people with leadership skills necessary for the volunteering work
- raze awareness of use of IT technologies in volunteering work as well as increase their knowledge on it
- learn how to bring social change into practice themselves and encouraging them to play an active role in their communities, make them aware of the fact that they can play a role in the construction of the current and future Europe
- learn to consider each other primarily as individual, unique persons with own thoughts, opinions, and emotions; learn the basic knowledge and skills in intercultural communication; acquire a broad perspective on the lives of people in different cultures by getting in direct contact with people from these cultures
- learn to work together in a group and feel responsible for the whole group process
