The main aim of the training course is to develop the competences of youth workers to engage and empower them to take up leadership positions and to equip them with tools to lead a youth organisation.
Objectives:
• To identify the role of youth work in our societies and to understand the importance of youth workers within it
• To provide participants with different tools to acquire knowledge and to develop skills and competencies in organisational management
• To introduce effective communication, leadership and team-work techniques
• To develop competences to implement tools, non-formal and informal educational methods of decision making and strategic thinking
• To improve knowledge about Erasmus+ Programme as a tool for enhancing the international dimension of youth work through capacity building activities
The target group was organisation coordinators and young youth leaders wanting to take on position of leadership from countries including Italy, Turkey, Portugal, Czech Republic, Georgia, Hungary, Ireland, Spain, Armenia, Morocco, Estonia, Croatia and Uk.
The training team consisted of 3 trainers each from a different country, Hungary, UK and Ireland
The programme involves theoretical inputs and practical and creative workshops, discussions, group processes and individual work.
Topics covered included communication, strategically thinking and planning, team work, situational leadership and leadership skill development, conflict management, dynamic governance, and personal development.
Varies interactive tool including the 6-thinking hats, the leadership compass, the leadership development web, the fishbowl method, and open space discussion were used.
- Better understanding of organisational management
- Increased awareness of different leadership styles in particular Situational Leadership.
- Participants development competences in strategic thinking and planning
-Participants got to experiment with how to successfully work in a team and communicate effectively
- Increased international partnerships
- Improved understanding of dynamic governances and decision making processes as well as increased awareness of how important all the different people in a team, their roles, needs, and skills.
The training team consisted of 3 full time trainers of which I was one. In addition as the organiser of the training my role also involved communication with partners, overseeing writing and reporting of application and support to logistics.
