Outcomes of the activity

Volunteering contributes to the personal and professional development, because young people gain valuable skills, explore career paths, and develop social networks that can lead to meaningful employment. For people who have had limited vocational experience, volunteering or EVS can be an important training option and part of a long-range employment plan. Voluntary work allows unemployed people to use their existing skills or to acquire new ones, thus making them more ‘marketable’ to prospective employers. The actual experience of volunteers moving into paid work is impressive. Many had succeeded in getting jobs within their own or a sister voluntary organization when paid staff left or new jobs were created. There were also examples of people moving into unrelated fields, such as administration, management, IT etc. In addition to a wage, volunteering experiences provide a time structure, the company of fellow workers, opportunity to participate in collective effort, activity and a social identity. Access to some or all of these experiences is seen as uniquely the privilege of employed people.
Of course the future project we worked on will be great part of the impact.
