TOY - Trainers Online for Youth

- To provide the participants with a better understanding of disability within youth work (key concepts in the field of disability, human rights, respect & responsibilities) and create a disability-friendly concept of youth work (mainstreaming).
- To develop youth worker competencies, tools and confidence to involve young people with disabilities in your activities. To create professional skills to work with people with disability and do active outreach to young people with disability.
- To foster an innovative approach to disability, focused on abilities rather than disabilities.
- To improve the interaction between young people (with and without disabilities) but also with the adults around them.
The group of participants was composed by 23 youth worker and youth leaders, coming from 12 countries (Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Croatia, Poland, Norway, Estonia, Romania, Turkey). The leadership team was composed by three trainers (one from Belgium, one from Italy and myself).

The program included also study visits to organizations, active at grass-root level with people with disabilities.
The participants gained new tools, competences and methods to properly approach people with disability and to involve them in their activities;
- The participants developed a new understanding of disability, focused on ability more than disability
- The participants have developed a wide range of skills, competences, attitudes and knowledge about the concept of "disability" and inclusion
