TOY - Trainers Online for Youth
This is a reference for Tobias Glismann
The training aimed to explore storytelling as a methodology to engage youth in reflecting on and addressing global issues such as poverty, inequality, and climate change. It responded to the need for creative and meaningful educational tools to foster global citizenship and critical thinking in youth work.
The training included youth workers from various European countries, creating an intercultural group that enriched the learning experience. The diversity of nationalities fostered meaningful exchanges, allowing participants to reflect on global issues through different cultural lenses.
The training used non-formal education methods such as participatory storytelling, interactive workshops, reflective discussions, group work, and hands-on creative tasks. The approach emphasized experience-based learning, dialogue, and personal expression to connect global themes with local realities.
The training equipped participants with storytelling techniques they could integrate into their own youth work practices. It deepened their understanding of global issues and improved their ability to communicate these topics in a compelling way. The program's success is reflected in the ongoing engagement of participants, including future collaboration offers for active contributors like myself.
Although participating officially, I actively contributed by designing and facilitating parts of the program. I led storytelling sessions that linked personal narratives to global challenges, supported group processes, and helped maintain an inclusive and participatory atmosphere. I consistently demonstrated training-level competence through my initiative, facilitation style, and interaction with the group and team.
