Aims & objectives

A training course for youth workers on place-based education as a tool for empowering local community and fostering wellbeing of young people. This training course was aimed at empowering youth workers and other educators to use place-based education approach in their work and at supporting them in developing competences that will help them reimagine how different places can be used as learning spaces and resources.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

Trainers' team was composed of 4 trainers, from Ireland, Italy, Hungary and Latvia.
Participants came from 12 European countries, including: Bulgaria, Chech Republic, Croatia, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Turkey.

Training methods used & main activities

Throughout the course learners took part in various place-based exercises thus giving them chance not only to gain knowledge about place-based learning but also to experience diverse and creative practical methods how to use it. Group discussions and theoretic inputs, field work, outdoor, artistic and movement activities, different idea generation methods and visual facilitation were used as supportive methods.
