Practicing Coaching and Mentoring Training

The training activity took place
in Ommen, the Netherlands
organised by Sticthing Olde Vechte
2013-2017 (10 editions)

Aims & objectives

The Practicing Coaching and Mentoring is a 7 days international open call course designed with the aim of facilitating personal and professional growth for people who are involved or interested in coaching.
The training aims to create different results at different levels:
- Establishing better communication with others, both internally and externally.
- Improving connection with others and generate trust.
- Identify and clarifying misunderstandings in communication.
-Increasing the the ability to create choices and flexibility in managing your states and behaviours.
- Matching your communication to the person you are having the conversation with
- Becoming more efficient in the activities you facilitate and how to create your desired impact.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

People who work with people (youth workers, coaches, trainers, managers) who want to develop their own coaching and mentoring attitude and toolkits.
Given the Open Call frame of this TC, throughout the 10 editions I've been involved there have been participants coming from several European countries (EU and Non-EU), African countries and Middle East countries.

Training methods used & main activities

Experiential learning, Coaching, NLP, Somatic Work, Systemic Work, Guided meditations, Reflection groups, Video feedback, Mentoring

Outcomes of the activity

- Identifying coaching techniques and approaches that are suitable for them
- Developing an effective evaluating system for their performance as a coach
- Setting achievable and desirable goals as a coach
- Increased competences for planning and implementing a coaching session
- Developing further their communication skills
- Making a clearer distinction between the role of the coach and of the client in the coaching process
- Enhanced performance as a team leader or member in local and international projects

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

As a trainer my functions (5 editions) were:
- developing and implementing the program
- facilitating input
- delivering sessions on Embodied Coaching: applying tools from body awareness, Somatic Work and dance into coaching

As a co-trainer (5 editions) my functions were:
- supporting logistics
- contributing to program design
- coaching participants through reflection groups

I worked on this training for 7 days as a full time trainer.
