TOY - Trainers Online for Youth
This is a reference for Martin Fischer
Peace Games set out to promote game education as a tool for political education, HRE and positive communication. It introduced a variety of methods to the participants and reflected on the different dimensions of games, gamification and game design.
The team was composed of 3 Italian trainers and me. It hosted 24 participants from over 10 different countries all over Europe.
The training used a variety of methods including games. It used LEGO Serious play, theatre education, sport and games as educational tool. I carried out the parts around digital games as education tools.
The training created a report on the individual exercises, which will be published on the organisers website soon. Furthermore it created 6 board games for educational purpose, which have already been adopted in some local use. The designs will also be freely available on the website.
I was hosting 2 half days to introduce digital games and digital gaming culture with the up- and downsides of it. I used various games, some OTS, some specific serious games, with specific focus on alternative gameplay. One session focussed on team building though games. Another one created discussion on hate in it's various forms in digital communities.
