TOY - Trainers Online for Youth

Following the positive and constructive feedback of previous participants of the training concept “One Last Chance, conflict resolution training" (that in total had 5 editions) that they would like to keep their learning curve going by adding more competences on how to work towards constructing a more positive and proactive situation without the need being made explicit by conflict. This training course is a response to their expressed needs.
We aimed to develop a more forward-looking and proactive approach to peacebuilding.
Specific objectives were
- LEARN about, and ANALYSE the concepts peace education and peacebuilding
- DEVELOP youth workers’ competences with regards to peacebuilding at local and regional level
- TRANSFER knowledge, skills and attitudes of peace education to our places of home
Our target group was :
- Previous participants of “One Last Chance” are given priority
- Youth workers with experience of methods of conflict management
We had partners from Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Italy, Macedonia, Portugal, Spain and Slovenia
The base of the training was experiential learning and non formal education principles. Taking this into account, group dynamics and participants needs and expectations we used:
- mediation (alternative dispute resolution (ADR)
- nonviolent communication and dialogue
- empathy
- game based learning and (Mission Z experience)
Our outcomes were
- More experienced, motivated and stimulated youth workers who are dedicated to working proactively towards peaceful relations in their home contexts;
- The start of a heightened awareness of obstacles to peace, both at local level and a more macro level,
Follow up of this project was new partnerships between organisations from Slovenia and Cyprus that invited trainers from this project to bring their concepts to their local realities and build a trainings theere
