Pantomime art as a tool for intercultural learning

Aims & objectives

The aim of this training course is to develop the skills of youth workers, youth leaders, volunteers and multipliers to promote intercultural learning and participation of youth in and through Pantomime art. This will be done by
• Deepening the knowledge on the subject of inter cultural and non-formal learning;
• Advocate for the techniques of informal learning (specifically The Pantomime Performance form of Improvisation);
• Promotion the YiA Programme as an Educational Tool;
• Supporting personal development of young people , democracy and civil society development in the neighbouring Partner Countries;
• Exploring the YiA Programme with a special focus on the aims of Action 3.1 and its activities;
• Promotion Youth Participation and European Citizenship as key elements when designing a YiA Project;
• Exploring the theme of the active and creative citizen;
• Bringing together people working among youth in a variety of contexts;
• Exploring the possibilities (benefits and challenges) of Youth In Action programme as a tool in the work;
• Providing space and time for developing ideas for future projects in the frame of the cooperation with neighbouring countries as result of the training course;
• Exploring quality aspects of sustainable international partnership and international youth projects;
• Learning about the youth work realities in different countries/regions;
• Reflection and explore possibilities of non-formal education activities within the Youth in Action Programme

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

36 participants from Turkey, Ukraine, Spain, Romania, Italy, Bulgaria,Georgia and Croatia.

Training methods used & main activities

Non-formal Education forms: role play, drama, theater, street activities.

Outcomes of the activity

During the project we achieved all objectives planned in frame of the this project. Participants discussed and learnt about identity, Europe, Human Rights, citizenship and active participation. They performed all understanding in Pantomime performance and showed how they understand it.
Using non-formal education methods, though the role play games, exercises which held during the training course participants saw differences and common values between each others and shared their experience in youth field, European citizenship and discuss what they will use as a techniques in they work. Pantomime rehearsals gave to the participants to touch with art of body language and showed them how body of human can send massage and express their desire, needs, identity and how it possible to use pantomime as a tool in the intercultural dialogue.
Pantomime lessons learnt skill of Presence, Empathy, Listening and attention. All these skill were important to them to play performance.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

I was a trainer and created training program, did exercises, discussions, events and preparing group for performance.

I worked on this training for 7 days as a full time trainer.
